Engineering, CAD Support & Prototyping

Component design & Quality Control

Unifab’s in-house engineering department enables us to offer a range of services that far exceeds those found in many other companies. Not only are our engineers skilled in their profession, they possess extensive knowledge about the performance characteristics of the materials we use, the abilities of our work force and the capabilities of our production equipment. We do not isolate our engineers in some remote corner of our facilities. Instead, they are an integral part of both the development and production process, and it is not uncommon to find them on the shop floor discussing details with our staff, welders, and fabricators.

Because of the close alliance that exists between Unifab’s engineers and production staff, we are readily capable of offering  assistance by taking your initial concept, a napkin sketch, modeling your design and producing a prototype for evaluation. With input from  you the parts are further refined into production-ready components. Our abilities, both at the engineering and production levels, often speed the concept-to-production process, which results in quicker turn-around and lower costs. Unifab is the logical choice for prototyping and product development.

Different clients require different degrees of engineering input, and we gladly accommodate each to their individual needs. Value analysis is very often part of the service we offer. If we know of a better way to produce components we present this information to the client for evaluation. Material use optimization, through the use of computer modeling, enables us to control costs by minimizing the amount of scrap material left over from raw stock. Step sequencing enables our Staff to monitor and maintain quality control throughout the production process.

The task of watching out for our customers’ best interests is a responsibility we obligate to each of our employees, and it is the engineering staff that oversees and monitors all operations. We adhere to the adage that having a happy customer is good, having a happy repeat customer is better. We welcome the opportunity to discuss how we may best serve you, and are interested in meeting each facet of need for prototyping, short-order runs, and large production outputs.

CAD/CAM & File Transfer

At Unifab Corporation we strive for continuous improvement in every area. From client contact and customer service, through production and final inspection, our goal is to serve our clients as best we are able. Part of that goal is borne out at the engineering level by investments we have made to speed the transfer of information between us and our clients. There are a variety of platforms in use for computer aided design and computer modeling, and it is important that our engineering department have the capability to receive designs and details developed by our clients’ engineers. For this reason we have made an extensive investment in our software library to facilitiate the transfer of information. Where other fabricators want you adapt to the software they have available, Unifab has made an expressed commitment to conform to our clients operations by having a broad array of CAD based programs through which information can be shared.  Listed below are the various types of files we can import.
